Workplace Projects

The Dis-IT Research Alliance examined how Canadian employers are using technology to create accessible work environments for workers with disabilities, as well as the broader market implications of accessible information and communication technologies (ICTs).

The Dis-IT Workplace research team :

  • examined concepts of the new economy , the electronic curb-cut effect , universal design and how these concepts relate to ICTs and the employment of people with disabilities.
  • conducted interviews with employees with disabilities and employers about the use of technology and other innovative practices to employ people with disabilities .
  • examined, together with researchers from Dis-IT’s Retail and Public Services research team, the challenges of conducting research in collaboration with private industry .
